Gaïane De Brabanter
Gaïane is a marine biologist and animal behaviorist. She has had a passion for marine mammals since she was a child and started encountering them in their natural inhabitat when she was very young.
Today, she organises and guides journeys to and through wild and wonderful dolphin territory and develops her underwater and documentary photography
Her research on social learning in juvenile dolphins was published in the Journal of Animal Behavior and Cognition. The full text is available here.
Gaïane is a safety diver (qualified PADI Rescue Diver) and a free diver (SSI level 2). She supports groups that thrive to foster our relationship to water and their inhabitants, such as the I Am Water Foundation and the Belgian NGO Happy Dolphin Encounters . She prefers eco-responsible work outfits such as Spirit Girl’s leggings to protect her skin from the sun and Lunamar bikinis in the summer. She also enjoys watching Schoolyard Films, Inc.‘s documentaries, available online for free !
